Since September 2010, ESTA applications have been a fully paperless, fee-based process. Is there a free ESTA authorization?

Despite what you may read on the internet, there is no such thing as a free ESTA. Since May 2022, there is a minimum fee of $21, plus an additional fee for additional services, such as assistance.

The $21 collected is used to help fund the ESTA program, established by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the promotion of American tourism internationally.
